NEW YORK, N.Y. - Lehman's women's volleyball got into the win column for the first time in 2011 on Saturday morning as the Lightning topped the College of Staten Island in four sets (25-19, 25-12, 19-25, 25-17) during a CUNYAC multi-match held at Baruch College.
Not only was Saturday the first win for the Lightning, but it was also the first action of the season for senior transfer
Jasmine Bermudez, who played an excellent all-around game, collecting 18 assists, six kills and eight digs from the setter position. Fellow senior
Gerri-Ann Martin led the team with 10 kills while junior
Yamilka Vicente, also seeing the court for the first time this year, chipped in three kills and two service aces.
In the win, Lehman broke the mold of its first two games – both losses during which they dropped the opening set – by taking the first two sets from the Dolphins.
The Lightning faces an early season measuring stick in its next opponent when it welcomes Hunter College to the Bronx this coming Tuesday.
