Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team dropped its home opener tonight, falling to St. Joseph's College of Long Island, 65-53. Tonight marked the first game for Lehman College to be played in the APEX since March 2, 2011.

St. Joseph's College led from the onset, building an early 6-0 lead. The Lightning would come right back, scoring the next five points on a layup by junior Stephanie Miranda (Bronx, N.Y./Taft Educational Campus) and a three-pointer by freshman Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland). The game would eventually be tied at eight points apiece at the 12:55 mark, on a Jasmin Castro-Lopez (Bronx, N.Y./Wings Academy) jumper.

SJC would take charge of the game, and played from ahead for the remainder of the first half. At the intermission, the Eagles led 36-24.

In the second half, SJC extended their lead, which never reached single digits, as the visiting Eagles took the win.

On the night, Castro-Lopez led Lehman with 22 points, while Miranda had a double-double, with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. The 12 points are a career-high for Miranda.

The Lightning now take a week off between games, and will host Purchase College on December 29 at 12 noon.
