BRONX, N.Y. - A rally for the Lehman College women's soccer team did not prove to be enough, as the Lightning (3-3-0) fell to visiting Mt. St. Vincent 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
CMSV took a 1-0 lead into halftime, before the real fun ensued. In the second half, freshman Thamare Rejouis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Science Skills Center) scored back-to-back goals in a span of three minutes to put the Lightning ahead. The second goal came after a Lehman corner kick. With the ball bouncing around inside the box, Rejouis sent a rocket past the keeper for the Lehman lead.
But the Dolphins continued to press. Lehman keeper Marleny Hernandez (Long Island City, N.Y./Academy of American Studies) made several of her 12 saves over the next 15 minutes that kept Lehman in the game. But the Dolphins continued to press. Finally, CMSV scored three goals in the last 15 minutes of the game, earning the win.
Lehman now has a week of training ahead before facing CCNY next Sunday, September 23.
