In the first set, Lehman jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on kills from Cari English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) and Jo-Marie Aquino (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman). The lead was short-lived, as WPU went on a 13-1 run to take command.

The second set saw the Pioneers take an early lead. Lehman responded, cutting the lead to 14-8 with senior Shayla Tomkins (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Mt. Vernon) serving. Lehman would get no closer.

The third set was wild from the beginning; with Lehman taking an early 12-4 lead on a kill from Aquino. WPU would go on an incredible 11-0 run to take the lead at 24-16. Lehman fought back, cutting the lead to 24-21 on back-to-back service aces by junior hitter Besa Zabelaj (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains). WPU was forced to take a timeout to cut Lehman's momentum, then recorded the next point to end the match.

The Lightning will travel to York (N.Y.) College on Saturday to open CUNYAC play against John Jay and Medgar Evers.
