Women's Volleyball Remains Hot at Home, Sweeps OW 3-0

Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's volleyball team defeated SUNY Old Westbury in straight sets on Tuesday night, in a match held at the APEX. The set scores were 25-10, 25-20, and 25-16.  The Lightning have now won seven consecutive home matches, and are 14-5 on the season.

Lehman cruised to victory in the first set, and hung on to win the second. The pesky Old Westbury squad would not go down without a fight as they exchanged leads back and forth with the Lightning. The home team would eventually pull away to win the game and clinch the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Imani Dubois (West Palm Beach, Fla./J.P. Taravella) had eight kills and four services aces, which were both team-highs. Junior middle hitter Cari English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) tallied seven kills of her own.

The Lightning, who are currently ranked #1 in the NCAA Division III in service aces, registered 14 aces as a team.

Freshman middle hitter Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale-Kingsbridge Academy) produced ten digs, which was the most on the Lightning. She also had two block assists and one block solo.

The Lightning will be back in action on Monday, October 14, for a CUNYAC tri-match held at Hunter College. Lehman will collide with Baruch College at 8:00 a.m. followed by a match against York College at 12:00 p.m.
