Hot Shooting Sparks Men's Basketball to 87-55 Win at John Jay

Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – Behind hot shooting, the Lehman College men's basketball beat host John Jay College on Tuesday night, 87-55. Lehman shot better than 52% for the game, and out-rebounded the Bloodhounds, 51-33.
 
John Jay (2-5, 1-3 CUNYAC) made the first basket of the game, before senior Kelvin Gil (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) put Lehman up for good with a three-pointer 1:48 into the game. From there, the race was on.
 
The Lightning (5-3, 2-1 CUNYAC) led by as many as 34 points in the game, late in the second half.
 
Junior Brandon Stolz (Bronx, N.Y./Truman) had an incredible first half, making all six shots he took from the field, for 13 points. Gil made three of his first five shots as well, as Lehman shot 54.5% in the opening 20 minutes.
 
In the second half, Stolz made three of his four shots from the field for nine points, while senior guard Stanley Stephens (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) made four of his five shots, for 10 points.
 
Stolz would finish the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Stephens recorded 16. Gil and sophomore big man Jerrome Jones (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. Vernon) each scored 11.
 
Lehman has won back-to-back games, and four of its last five. The next game is Saturday night, at Yeshiva University, for an 8:30 start.
