BRONX, N.Y. – Saturday is game day in the APEX, as the Lehman College women's basketball team will host Notre Dame of Maryland at 2:00 p.m., in a non-conference game.
The Lightning are off to a strong start at 7-2. Lehman is currently riding a four-game winning streak, having won six of their last seven games.
Today is the first game back on campus for Lehman, after a three-game road swing that included a visit to Washington, D.C. During that trip, history was made, as Head Coach Eric Harrison earned his 225th victory at Lehman College. The magical win came last Friday night, as the Lightning defeated Gallaudet University, 75-70.
Two-time defending CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) leads the Lightning with an average of 19. 8 points per game and forces a total of 46 steals. She is also the leader in assists with 40. Junior forward Shalaya Nieves (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) is averaging a double-double, which includes 14.8 points and 10.3 boards per game.
Notre Dame is making a two-game swing through New York City, playing Lehman on Saturday, and Yeshiva on Sunday. In their last game, the Gators fell to Colonial States Athletic Conference rival, Keystone (Penn.) College, 87-37.
