Women's Basketball Beats Snow, Notre Dame on Saturday Afternoon

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team cruised to an easy 80-42 home victory over Notre Dame University of Maryland on Saturday afternoon, in a game played in the APEX at Lehman College. The Lightning improve to 8-2 on the season, while Notre Dame falls to 0-8.

Lehman dominated the over-matched Notre Dame, who struggled from the field. Freshman guard Genesis Liberato (Santo Domingo, D.R./Liceo Ramon Matias Mella) scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half, as Lehman jumped out quickly and never trailed.

Freshman guard Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) led Lehman in scoring with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals. A pair of sophomore guards, Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton), and Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland), each scored 15 points.

Lightbourne led Lehman with 13 rebounds, while sophomore forward Luisayra Madrigal (Bronx, N.Y./Msgr. Scanlan) added 11 caroms.

Lehman will now take a break from action to concentrate on final exams, and will not play until December 28-29, hosting the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament.
