THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at SUNY Maritime College on Wednesday night. The loss evens the Lightning's record at 1-1, while the Privateers are now 2-1.   

Maritime scored in the game's sixth minute, and carried that lead into the halftime break. Both teams battled back and forth, with the hosts carrying play.

Finally, the Privateers exploded for their second and third goals just four minutes apart, in the 71^st and 75^th minutes, for the 3-0 win.

For Lehman, sophomore keeper Melanie Varillas (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) made seven saves in 72 minutes of action. Classmate Marleny Hernandez (New York, N.Y./American Studies) played the final 17+ minutes in goal, making three stops.

Lehman will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8, at the Cedar Crest College tournament, in Allentown, Penn.
