BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team held off a scrappy Brooklyn College team on Saturday afternoon, winning 73-62. The game had originally been scheduled for Friday night in the APEX by Lehman College, but was moved due to the snow storm that closed the campus.

Senior guard Stanley Stephens (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) made a pair of free throws to give Lehman the lead, 2-0, before the game even started. A technical foul had been assessed to Brooklyn College in the pregame for dunking during warmups. The practice is prohibited.
In fact, Stephens scored nine of Lehman's first 11 points of the game, as the Lightning led 11-4, just five minutes in.
Brooklyn College then went on a run, knotting the score at 14 apiece, before senior guard Kelvin Gil (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) hit a jumper to regain the lead. The Bulldogs rallied, and opened up a three-point lead, 22-19, with 6:18 to go in the first half.

After a pair of Brooklyn free throws, Lehman scored the final ten points of the first half, over a 4:46 span, to take a twelve point lead into the break.
In the second half, Stephens dunked on Lehman's second possession, and the lead swelled to 14 points. Brooklyn rallied to tie the game at the 12:46 mark, and eventually took a tenuous one point lead.
But the Lightning rallied, and led by as many as six before the game's final minute of play.
