Women's Basketball Falls at Brooklyn on Saturday Afternoon

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's basketball team fell to Brooklyn College, 75-56, in the West Quad Center in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs have now won both meetings with the Lightning this season.

Lehman (12-8, 6-5 CUNYAC) had the lead for the majority of the first half until Brooklyn (15-5, 8-3 CUNYAC) went on a 14-1 run in a span of six minutes to jump out to a 12 point lead, with just over a minute remaining in the opening half. The Lightning would never recover as the Bulldogs held on for the remainder of the game.

Sophomore forward Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) led the Lightning in scoring with 17 points. Freshman guard Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) added 15 points, while sophomore guard Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) scored 13. Lightbourne and junior forward Shalaya Nieves (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) each grabbed eight rebounds.

The Lightning are now in fifth place in the CUNYAC, trailing Hunter by a half-game for the fourth spot. Brooklyn remains in third place.

The Lightning are in the midst of a tough spot in the schedule, and will host first place College of Staten Island on Monday, February 3.
