English Named All-Tournament as Women's Volleyball Concludes Oneonta Tournament

ONEONTA, N.Y. – On Day Two of the Oneonta State Invitational, the Lehman College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of hard-fought matches, to the College of Mt. St. Mary, 3-1, and host Oneonta, 3-0. For her efforts, senior Cari English was named to the All-Tournament team.

Against MSMC (2-1), the Knights took the first set 25-18, before Lehman rallied to take the second, 25-20. MSMC then took the third, 25-27, and the fourth, 25-16. Sophomore hitter Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx,, N.Y./RKA) hit .412 with seven kills, while English (Yonkers, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) added five kills and as many solo blocks.

In the final match of the tournament for Lehman (1-3), Oneonta (4-0) swept all three sets, 25-10, 25-10, 25-21. English had three kills and two solo blocks, while Gonzalez had a pair of kills and a pair of blocks. Junior setter Imani Dubois (West Palm Beach, Fla./JP Taravella) had 23 assists on the day.

Lehman returns to action on Wednesday night, September 3, at FDU Florham to face the host Devils and Purchase College. The following night, the Lightning return to the Bronx, and will host William Paterson in the APEX for the home opener, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
