GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lehman College women's basketball team dropped its consolation game of the Messiah Tournament to the host Falcons, 67-49, on Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Jennifer Navarro was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lightning now start the season with a record of 0-2.

Lehman's slow start to the game was the key factor as Messiah scored the first eight points of the contest. The Lightning were outscored 16-6 in the opening quarter.

In the second stanza, Lehman could not get any momentum going as the Falcons (1-1) extended their lead to 33-21 going into halftime.

In the opening minute of the third quarter, Navarro led the Lightning right back into the contest by drilling two three-point baskets and one layup in a span of just 38 seconds, to narrow Messiah's lead to 33-29. The Falcons would respond by scoring the next six points to regain a double-digit advantage. Lehman's deficit would only get deeper as Messiah took a 58-42 lead into the fourth quarter.

The final stanza was a low-scoring affair as the Falcons narrowly outscored the Lightning, 9-7, to clinch the victory.

Navarro totaled 21 points, while junior guard Amely Del Rosario added 16 points with five rebounds, three assists, and forced four steals. Senior forward Amani Lightbourne grabbed 11 rebounds, produced three assists, and forced four steals, while senior forward Yarmese Jones tallied nine rebounds of her own.

Lehman's home opener will take place on Wednesday, as the Lightning will host the Bears of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the APEX Main Gym.
