Women's Volleyball Comeback Not Enough Against Mount Saint Mary

BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Mount Saint Mary in five sets. The Lightning dropped the first two sets, but rallied to force the fifth and deciding stanza. The Knights would recover to win the fifth set and the match. Set scores were 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 21-25, and 16-14.
 
The Lightning were led by senior outside hitter Jo-Marie Aquino (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman), who tallied a double-double with 18 kills and 21 digs. She also added one block assist. Senior setter Imani Dubois (West Palm Beach, Fla./J.P. Taravella) produced 18 digs and 16 assists, while junior opposite hitter Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale-Kingsbridge Academy) produced four service aces.
 
The Lightning will return to the APEX Main Gym on Wednesday, to battle Brooklyn College, in a key CUNY Athletic Conference contest. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
