Box Score 2 POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the Vassar Tri-Match, on the campus of Vassar College, on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning lost to both the University of New England and Vassar College in straight sets.
In the match against the University of New England, set scores were 25-14, 25-11, and 25-15. Senior outside hitter
Jo-Marie Aquino (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) led the way both offensively and defensively with 13 kills and 10 digs. Junior opposite hitter
Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y./Riverdale-Kingsbridge Academy) also had 10 digs and added six kills, while senior setter
Imani Dubois (West Palm Beach, Fla./J.P Taravella) produced 19 assists.
In Lehman's (1-3) match against Vassar, Aquino tallied seven more kills with 17 digs. Gonzalez tallied 16 digs, while sophomore outside hitter
Lindsay Pantaleon (New York, N.Y./Gorge Washington) added eight. After dropping the first two sets, Lehman managed to pull within one, at 15-14, but Vassar would respond by going on a 10-4 run to clinch the set and the match.
The Lightning will open up the home portion of their schedule with a doubleheader on Wednesday. The Lightning will battle Cedar Crest at 6:00 p.m., then take on Purchase College at 8:00 p.m.
