Amely Del Rosario burst out with 27 points with six assists, four steals and three rebounds to lead the Lehman College women's basketball team to a 74-64 win over visiting Hunter College at the APEX in the Bronx.
Lehman (10-6 / 5-2 CUNYAC) remains in third place in the CUNYAC conference standings as of press time. The Lightning also received 16 points with 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks from
Karrin Walker. Walker has four double-doubles through just six games this season.
Yarmese Jones scored 14 points in just 17 minutes coming off the bench, making seven of her nine shots.
The Hawks of Hunter (6-10 / 3-5 CUNYAC) were led by Jade Aponte with 19 points and three steals. Ashley Yu had 15 points with four assists and three steals.
With Lehman leading by three at the half, the key moment in the game came late in the second half. After Hunter took a 58-55 lead with 6:15 remaining, the Lighting went on an 8-0 run with two baskets each from Del Rosario and Walker, taking the lead and never looking back.
It was Del Rosario's highest point total since she went for 31 against York College on December 8
th. The junior leads the Lightning with a 20.8 scoring average.
