Lightning Roll Again

Brooklyn, NY - The Lightning won their third straight as Lehman (12-6:7-2) defeated Medgar Evers (1-16:1-9) 84-51 in women's basketball action.
Amani Lightbourne paced the Lightning with 32 points on 15 of 22 shooting.  Team mates Karrin Walker added another double double as she recorded 12 points while grabbing 15 rebounds.  Yarmese Jones grabbed a season high 14 rebounds.  Jennifer Navarro added 24 points while dishing out eight assists.

The Lightning picked up where they left off at the conclusion of the mid-week rout of John Jay.  The Cougars were in way path of the Lightning who seem to firing on all cylinders.  The Lightning pressure defense was once again the key as Lehman forced 24 turnovers and limited the Cougar offense to 16-65 shooting (25%). 

The teams were feeling each other out early on until the Lightning outscored the Cougars 10-3 to end the first quarter and take a 25-19 lead.  In the second quarter it was all Lehman as the Lightning outscored the Cougars 24-8 to take a 49-27 lead at the half.  The Lightning were never challenged during the second half. 

Nia Tompkins led the Cougars with 16 points. 

The Lightning will be back in action on Wednesday night at Brooklyn.
