Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball closed out conference play in 2016 with their second straight win, a 3-0 [25-17, 25-6, 25-14] victory over Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC conference matchup Tuesday night at the APEX Center.
Prior to the game, the Lightning (6-17, 3-5 CUNYAC) hosted Senior Night for their lone senior on the team,
Salveira Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was honored with a framed jersey, flowers and a photo along with family members, teammates and Lehman athletic director Dr. Martin L Zwiren. The members of the men's soccer team were also honored before the game, as
Irvin Barreto,
Ramone Rowe,
Jesus Marin, and
Luis Andrade received plaques and jerseys on the court.
In her final home game, Gonzalez led the team with 13 kills along with three service aces and four digs.
Caitlin Vernon added five kills with three blocks, while
Lindsay Pantaleon slammed three kills.
Samantha Delgado dished out a team-high 19 assists and 7 aces in the victory.
For the Cougars (0-26, 0-9 CUNYAC), Adenike Akindude topped the team with five kills, while Kalifa Roberts added three kills and six digs in a losing effort.
Lehman wraps up their 2016 campaign with a road matchup against Bard College Wednesday night at Annandale-on-Hudson. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
