Amani Lightbourne and
Jennifer Navarro scored 19 points apiece to lead Lehman (18-6:13-2) to a 69-58 road victory at CCNY (15-9:10-5). The victory means the the Lightning clinched the top seed in the CUNYAC post-season tournament.
Amely Del Rosario added 15 points and six steals while
Yarmese Jones recorded her third double double of the season; scoring 12 points while grabbing a team high 12 rebounds.
The Beavers were led by Tiara Brown and Erica Richards. The duo tallied 21 and 17 points respectively.
The Lightning scored the first seven points of the contest and never looked back. Lehman owned a 21-13 points at the end of the first quarter. To start the second quarter, Lehman once again scored the first seven points of the period and was able to extend their lead in the second by out-scoring the Beavers 18-9. In the third, CCNY was able to get back in the contest. Trailing 39-22 at the half the Beavers outscored the Lightning 24-16 in the third. Lehman still owned a 55-46 at the end of the third and were able to keep the Beavers at bay. The Lightning won the quarter 14-12.
The Lightning return to action on Tuesday night at 5:30 PM. Lehman will recognize the four seniors on the squad,
Yarmese Jones,
Karrin Walker,
Amani Lightbourne and
Jennifer Navarro will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony. Lehman will battle CSI in the APEX in the final regular season contest of the season.
