The Lightning (18-7 / 13-3 CUNYAC) enters the playoffs as the number one overall seed with the best record in the league, receiving a bye into the semifinals. Lehman will play the winner of Sunday's quarterfinals matchup.
Coach
Eric Harrison's team is led by the CUNYAC Player of the Year, junior point guard
Amely Del Rosario. Del Rosario's 23 points per game not only ranks first in the conference, it also places her second in the nation. In addition, she is averaging 3.8 steals per game (first in the CUNYAC), 5.3 assists (third) and 35.8 minutes (seventh). Earlier this year, Del Rosario set a Lehman single-game scoring record with 48 points at Hunter College. For her career, Del Rosario has already scored 1312 points in just her third season.
Senior
Jennifer Navarro is a four year letter-winner with the Lightning, and has had one of the most storied careers in the history of the CUNYAC. Navarro currently ranks seventh all-time in career scoring with 1694 points, and her run is not over yet. She's also become one of the most prolific three-point shooters in the country, leading the nation with 91 triples made this season and tallying 362 for her career thus far. Navarro was once again voted a CUNYAC All-Star this season, making the first team.
Senior
Amani Lightbourne made the CUNYAC All-Star second team for the second time. This year, Lightbourne joined Lehman's 1000 career point club, and has double-digit scoring averages in all three of her seasons.
Senior
Karrin Walker has been a double-double machine for Lehman, posting 11 in 15 games. She has led the team in rebounds with 11.5 per game – ranking her second in the CUNYAC - and ranks third in on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per contest.
Finally, senior
Yarmese Jones has spent the last two seasons with the Lightning, and has been the team's leading shot-blocker in each of the past two years. This season, she has tallied 22 blocks in 25 games, while ranking as the team's second-leading rebounder (7.5 rebounds per game) and fifth leading scorer (7.9 points per game). Jones was named to the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Team for her contributions both to the team and to the Lehman community as a whole.
Lehman will tip-off on Wednesday, February 24
th at 6:00 p.m. at CCNY where they will play the host Beavers, the fourth-seeded team in the tournament.
