BRONX, NY --- The Lehman College women's basketball team moved one step closer to earning a bye in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament on Friday night, as they defeated visiting Baruch College 78-52 at the APEX Gymnasium in the Bronx.

Lehman (15-6  / 10-2 CUNYAC) was led by Amely Del Rosario, who put on another clinic with 25 points, nine rebounds, six assists and six steals. All five of the Lightning starting lineup scored in double digits, as Jennifer Navarro contributed 17 points while pulling down five rebounds and coming away with four steals. Karrin Walker posted another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Yarmese Jones likewise finished with ten points and 11 boards with two blocks and three steals. The Lightning held a 17-3 advantage in steals, committing eight turnovers to the Bearcats' 30.

Veronica Ganzi led Baruch (10-10 / 9-4 CUNYAC) with 25 points and eight rebounds. Lauren Smith finished with ten while pulling down 11 boards.

After a slow start for the Lightning, Del Rosario hit back-to-back three-pointers to open the second period, part a 13 point run to take the lead. Lehman would not trail again, going into the halftime break up 28-23. In the second half, Lehman took control, making the most of their opportunities.

Lehman avenges a 94-55 loss at Baruch on January 13th, their last loss. It was their first win over the Bearcats since February 6th, 2014, when they won at Baruch, 73-67. The Lightning are peaking at the right time, as they've gone a six-game winning streak with just four games remaining before the playoffs. At press time, Lehman was ranked first in the conference standings. Should they finish in the top two, they will receive a bye into the CUNYAC Semifinals.

Lehman will be back on the court on Tuesday when they travel to Hunter College to take on the Hawks in a 5:00 p.m. contest.
