Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – In their 2016 season opener, the Lehman College women's volleyball team lost in straight sets to non-conference William Paterson, 3-0 [5-25, 5-25, 12-25] at the Apex Center Thursday night.
The Lightning (0-1) got two kills each from
Salveira Gonzalez (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Caitlin Vernon (Ozone Park, N.Y.) in a losing effort. Vernon added two blocks, while Gonzalez chipped in with six digs and a block.
Samantha Delgado (Warwick, N.Y.) also tallied six digs with a team-high five assists in defeat.
For the Pioneers (1-0), Erin Roach led the game with 10 of her team's 38 kills in the victory while Alyson Toman and Amanda Lembo each slammed seven. Kendall Caruso, the primary setter, dished out 29 assists in the straight-set victory.
Lehman will search for their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, when they head to Brooklyn to take on CUNYAC foe Medgar Evers College. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Cougars Cave.
