Box Score Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team used their best scoring performance of the season and got contributions from the entire squad as they beat Medgar Evers, 111-77, Friday night in CUNYAC play at the Cougars Cave.
Damian Bellamy was the Lightning's (8-7, 5-3 CUNYAC) top scorer, one of five players in double figures. He recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
Andrew Utate earned a double-double of his own with 20 points and 10 assists, while
Luis Hernandez came off the bench with 22 points with four assists and five boards. Both Utate and
Mylo Mitchell (19 points) knocked down four three-pointers each in the win.
The Cougars dropped to 3-10 and 2-6 in the CUNYAC. Maurice Swaby II led the team in defeat, scoring 22 points with eight assists. Both Joancarlo Bonilla and Timothy Bush connected on 13 points each in a losing effort.
Lehman had their highest point total of the season, cracking the century mark for just the second time all season. The 32 team assists also set a school record for most in a game.
They continue to be one of the most efficient scoring teams in the conference, this time hitting on 54.5% (42-of-77) of their shots, including 10-for-21 from three-point range. The squad also dominated on the inside, outscoring the Cougars 48-22 in the paint.
Up next for the Lightning is a matchup Wednesday night on the road against CCNY in a CUNYAC showdown as part of a doubleheader. Tip time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
