Bronx, N.Y. -- Down double figures in the second half, the Lehman College women's basketball team rallied back and were able to defeat Brooklyn College, 64-58, Friday night at the APEX Center in a big CUNYAC matchup.
The win extends the Lightning's (10-7, 8-2 CUNYAC) winning streak to seven games, and moves them into a tie for second place with the losing Brooklyn team.

For the Bulldogs (12-4, 8-2 CUNYAC), Olivia Colbert compiled a double-double of her own with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Karen Mak also scored nine points and added five assists and six rebounds in a losing effort.
The first half was a relatively even matchup between two of the top teams in the conference. After trailing 32-21 in the second quarter, the balanced attack of the Lightning scored nine of the next 10 points to close the half only down 33-30. Brooklyn started the second half hitting two three-pointers and rolling along with a 12-2 run, pushing the Lehman deficit to double figures.
Trailing by as many as 14 points, the Lightning would begin to chip away at the Bulldogs' lead. A Gordon three-point play along with free throws made by Lynda and
Lisa Fields along with
Krystal Pearson and
Marta Czaplak moved the deficit to single digits. Ayanna Behagen's layup to end the third put them down 52-45.
Lehman would clamp down on defense, forcing the Bulldogs to just 25% (8-of-32) all half along with 18 steals on 28 turnovers the entire game. Layups by Gordon, Del Rosario and Behagen would slice the Brooklyn lead down to just one with 4:01 remaining. After a free throw pushed the deficit back to two, Pearson would hit a fallaway jumper to even the score at 57.
Lisa Fields would draw a foul and hit both free throws then Pearson would find Behagen underneath for a layup to give the Lightning their first lead since the first quarter with a minute remaining.  Both Gordon and
Lisa Fields would hit their free throws late to seal the game.
Lehman travel up to Massachusetts Monday night when they face off with Amherst College, currently ranked number-two in all of NCAA Division III. Tip time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
