Post Game Interview with Bellamy
Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team got a strong performance from
Damian Bellamy and the team played a tough brand of defense the entire game as they defeated Baruch, 68-54-, Tuesday night in CUNYAC play at the APEX Center.
The Lightning (13-8, 9-4 CUNYAC) have now won five straight games and seven of their last eight matchups. They are now tied with CCNY for second in the conference.
Bellamy recorded his fourth double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing 17 rebounds (11 offensive) in the win.
Mylo Mitchell connected on four three-pointers in the first half, and finished with 12 points along with four assists and five boards.
Luis Hernandez added 10 points, while
Andrew Utate secured eight rebounds to go with eight points.
Baruch (14-7, 7-5 CUNYAC) was led by Chimaechi Ekekeugbor, who scored 12 points and six rebounds in a losing effort, while Allen Villar tallied 13 points and seven boards off the bench.
Lehman's defense held their opponents to just 35.3% shooting all game, including 8-for-24 in the first half to build a 33-21 lead at halftime. They also won the game on the glass, earning a 48-33 edge in rebounding including 20 offensive boards.
Offensively, their long-range shooting was very effective, drilling nine of 20 three-point attempts. They also dished off 13 assists, and hit 11 of their 14 free throw attempts to seal the win.
