Bronx, N.Y. -- The Lehman College women's basketball team used a strong scoring run to close out the first half, then never looked back in the second half to defeat Baruch, 74-66, in CUNYAC play Tuesday night at the APEX Center.

The Lightning (13-8, 11-2 CUNYAC) continue to roll, winning their third straight and nine of their last 10 games. They are currently two games up for second place in the conference, and trailing Staten Island by a game for first.
 

Amely Del Rosario sparked the team's run, scoring 20 of her game-high 27 points in the first half. She also had six assists, five steals and five rebounds in the victory. Marika Gordon added 12 points and seven boards, while Lisa Fields totaled a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Marta Czaplak chipped in with 11 points including three three-pointers, while Lisa Fields scored 10 of her own in the win.
 

The Bearcats (9-11, 8-4 CUNYAC) were paced by Shannon Barrett, who poured in a team-best 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a losing effort. Daniela Arias also scored 15 points and nine rebounds.
 

A back-and-forth start to the first quarter saw Baruch close out with a 9-0 run to move ahead 21-16 at the end of the stanza. Trailing 36-30 with 3:20 left in the second, Del Rosario found Gordon for two layups then hit a triple then a layup to close the half up 39-38.
 

The second half, the Lightning jumped out of the gate in the first 3:22 of the third quarter with a 9-0 run with baskets by Gordon, Czaplak and one of Del Rosario's four threes to move up 48-38.

They would move ahead by as many as 15 in the quarter, but Baruch hung tough and cut the deficit down to five. In the fourth, the Lightning would hold off the valiant Bearcats and secure the victory.
