Bronx, N.Y. - The Lehman College men's soccer team dropped its regular-season finale to NYU, in a 1-0 game played on the South Field on Saturday. Prior to kickoff, nine members of the team were honored in their final home game. The honorees were:
Essosa Aluyi,
Nabi Ben Bangoura,
Abdoulaye Bassirou,
Michel Generoso,
Gentian Muhaxheri,
Florent Mvogo,
Randi Olea,
Sikou Souimare and
Mamadou Talla.
The Violets scored a first-half marker that stood despite four saves from
Chris Mulholland. The Lightning's best chance to score came in the second half, when
Salh Alzubidi flicked a loose ball past the NYU keeper, but just wide of the net.
Despite the loss, the team finished with year with a 11-4-1 overall record and an 8-0 conference mark. They are the top seed in the upcoming CUNYAC championship and will host the semi-final game on Saturday October 28, at noon.
