Box Score Morristown, N.J. – The Lehman College women's basketball returned to the .500 mark on the season with a 66-55 victory at St. Elizabeth's College on Monday night in New Jersey. The 11-point win improved the team to 2-2 on the year.
Lehman built an eight-point cushion in the first quarter, leading 18-10 after ten minutes. The Lightning broke a 6-6 tie with a
Selena Lopez free throw at 7:07. Less than two minutes later,
Aliyah Dorsett converted two of her 14 points to put Lehman up three. A
Eugenie Maguire layup with 0:11 made the score 18-10.
Lynda Fields pushed the Lightning advantage to double-digits when she nailed a jumper to open the scoring in the second quarter. The lead got up to 16 points when
Ayanna Behagen made a layup at 3:50 to make the score, 30-14. They led at the half, 31-18.
St. Elizabeth came alive in the third quarter and used a 10-0 run to tie the score at 40-all with 1:17 left.
Olivia Stewart helped Lehman regain the lead with a layup inside the final minute of the third. The Lightning led, 42-40 after three.
Lehman opened the fourth quarter with a nine-three run to go up, 51-43 and never look back. Fields, Dorsett, Lopez and Stewart accounted for points during the scoring spree. The lead got as high as 16 points when Dorsett made a bucket with less than four minutes remaining. The Lightning went on to win, 66-55.
In the win,
Lynda Fields led the team with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Dorsett tallied 14 and blocked a pair of shots. LillyBeth Garcia finished with a dozen.
The Lehman College women's basketball team returns to the Apex on Wednesday, November 29, when the welcome the University of Valley Forge to the Bronx for a 7PM tip.
