Bronx, NY – The Lightning conclude the regular season tonight as they host the Panthers of Purchase in a non-league game. Lehman (16-8:14-2) ended CUNYAC by defeating Hunter 78-63 and will enter the post-season tournament as the # 2 seed. The Lightning will get a bye all the way to the semi-finals which will take place on Tuesday, February 21 at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of City College.
In the victory over the Hawks,
Krystal Pearson and
Marika Gordon recorded double doubles while
Lynda Fields and
Amely Del Rosario netted double figures. Pearson scored a team-high 21 while grabbing 12 rebounds. Gordon tallied 18 points and led the Lightning with 13 rebounds. The two also combined for 13 -13 from the charity stripe. Fields and Del Rosario scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
Purchased has struggled this season. The Panthers enter the game with a record of 2-20 overall and 1-16 in the Skyline. In their most recent outing at Farmingdale the Panthers were on the short end of a 74-43 decision. Kayka Ortiz was the only Purchase player in double figures. The junior guard and Brooklyn native tallied 13 points. Frances Minaya and Isis Gonzalez controlled the back boards with 13 adn12 rebounds respectively.
