Reading, Pa. – After opening the Alvernia College Tournament with a victory on Friday, the Lehman College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Alvernia and Rutgers-Newark on Saturday. The team is 1-2 on the year.
The Golden Wolves defeated the Lightning 25-18, 25-21 and 25-21 in the opening match on Saturday.
George Montilla led Lehman in this match with 25 assists and seven digs.
Jose Bautista added ten digs. Later in the day, the Lightning fell to the Scarlet Raiders, 25-22, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-19.
The third set went to Lehman 25-22 with the Lightning closing out the set with a 4-1 run. The points came from a pair of
Andrzej (AJ) Szulc kills, a block assist from Szulc and
Yaw Eshun and a service ace from Montilla.
Roberto Ventura Diaz (11) and Filipe Velandia (10) each reached double-figures in kills. Montilla totaled 38 assists and nine digs, while
Jose Bautista finished with 14 digs.
The Lehman College men's volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, February 3, when they cross the Hudson River to face Stevens Institute of Technology and Rivier College in a tri-match from Hoboken, New Jersey.
