New York – The Lehman College women's team had six players reach double figures in an 80-57 win over Baruch from Manhattan on Tuesday. The Lightning improved to 13-9 and 9-4 in CUNYAC play. They have won three straight.
Lehman opened up a 7-2 lead early in the first.
Selena Lopez scored the first basket and
Lisa Fields scored the next five, including a three-point-play. An
Aliyah Dorsett jumper at 1:36 gave Lehman its largest lead of the quarter, nine points. They were up, 20-13 after one.
A
Lisa Fields jumper at 5:30 gave Lehman its first double-digit lead of the contest, 30-19. Baruch rallied and trailed at the half, 34-30.
The second half was all Lehman as they outscored the Bearcats by eight in the third quarter and by 11 in the final ten minutes. A pair of
Lynda Fields free throws halfway through the third put the Lightning up by 15, 45-30. They led 56-44 after three.
A Dorsett fast break bucket with 3:55 remaining in the fourth put Lehman up 20, 74-54. Less than a minute later, another Dorsett bucket made the gap 24, the largest of the night. The Lightning won, 80-57.
In the victory,
Lynda Fields led the team with 19 points.
Ayanna Behagen totaled 16, while Dorsett had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Lisa Fields scored 11. Both Lopez and
Lillybeth Garcia had ten, but Garcia added nine assists.
The Lehman College women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, February 8, when they face Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn at 6:00 PM.
