Mahwah, N.J. – The Lehman College women's basketball team dropped its season opener on the road, 72-34, against Ramapo College, in a non-conference affair, at the Bradley Center on Friday evening.
The Lightning held their own against the Roadrunners early on and trailed by only four points (12-8) by the end of the first quarter. However, the New Jersey Athletic Conference team went on a 46 to 12 run in the next two quarters to pull away for its first win of the season.
Senior guard
Lisa Fields led Lehman with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while junior forward
Salima Sangare added six points and eight boards in the loss.
The Lightning continue their New Jersey road swing when they compete at Stockton Tip-Off Tournament at Galloway's Sports Center next week. Lehman begin tournament play next Friday (November 16
th) when it takes on hosts Stockton University.
