Box Score Bronx, N.Y. - It was Senior Day for the Lehman College women's basketball team on Tuesday, as
Ayanna Behagen,
Aliyah Dorsett and
Lynda Fields were honored prior to their final regular-season home game. All three seniors reached double-figures in scoring as the Lightning used a late rally to dispose of Hunter, 85-81, in a game played in the Bronx.
The game was a battle of evenly matched teams as there were four ties and 16 lead changes in the first half alone. Trailing 20-19 in the first, Lehman closed out the quarter with a 7-2 run to lead 26-22 after one. Dorsett scored four points in that run and
Lynda Fields hit a three-pointer as time expired. A Dorsett basket late in the second quarter gave the Lightning its largest lead of the half, six points. But they were up at the break, 49-45.
The game was close long into the third quarter as both sides jockeyed for position and traded the lead. A
Selena Lopez jumper with 0:20 remaining gave the Lightning a 65-61 lead after three quarters.
Behagen opened the fourth with a bucket and Lehman was up six, 67-61. A
Lillybeth Garcia jumper with 6:05 on the clock, put the Lightning ahead, 73-66, their largest lead of the game. Hunter fought back and pulled with two with 1:34 left. From there, a fast break basket from Dorsett put Lehman up four, and they never looked back. Garcia and
Lisa Fields both made foul shots down the stretch and Lehman won, 85-81.
Lopez scored a team-best 23 points on 8-11 shooting. Behgaen and
Lynda Fields both totaled 17 points. Dorsett posted a double-double of 12 points and ten rebounds.
The Lehman College women's basketball team advanced to the CUNYAC playoffs and will host a game on Sunday, February 18 as one of the CUNYAC Championship quarterfinal games.
