The third seeded Lehman College women's basketball team will take on the Dolphins of Staten Island on Wednesday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of CCNY for the right to play in the final on Friday. Tip-off tonight is slated for 8:00 PM.
The second seeded Dolphins (20-5:13-3) defeated the Lightning twice this season. In early January, CSI came away with an 80-73 victory.
Ayanna Behagen led the charge with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Lisa and Field Fields combined for 29 points while
Lillybeth Garcia netted 11. The Lightning found themselves down one at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Lightning offense struggled as they were only able to score three points and went into the locker room trialing 35-21. However Lehman battle back but ran out of time before falling to CSI.
Eleven days sago the teams met again in the Bronx and despite winding up on the short side of an 81-71 decision the Lightning were able to force 31 turnovers but couldn't find the shooters touch only converting 26-70 attempts from the field and a poultry 2-11 from long range.
Aliyah Dorsett paced Lehman with 24 points while Behagen and
Selena Lopez added 18 and 15 respectively.
In there most recent outing the # 3 Lightning defeated Baruch 91-69. The Lightning featured a balance scoring attack as six different players tallied double figures. Dorsett and Lopez netted 20 apiece. Behagen recorded her 7th double double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Lillybeth Garcia was one assist from a double double of her own with 14 points and nine assists. Lynda and
Lisa Fields tallied 10 points apiece.
This marks the third straight year that the Lightning will have appeared in the CUNYAC Semi Finals.
