New York - The Lehman College women's basketball team ended its season with an 80-56 loss to the College of Staten Island in the CUNYAC semi-final from CCNY on Wednesday. The Lightning fell behind 16-2 in the first four minutes of action and were never able to recover.
Trailing by that 16-2 score, Lehman showed some fight and used an 8-0 run to pull within 16-10. Ayanna Behagen accounted for four points in that scoring spree, Selena Lopez made a basket and Lisa Fields and Lynda Fields each added a foul shot. The Dolphins led 18-10 after a quarter. Lehman couldn't get the deficit into single digits in the second quarter and trailed 35-20 at the half.
A Lopez bucket at the 2:50 mark of the third quarter got the Lightning within eight, at 43-35. CSI quickly answered with a three-pointer and pushed the advantage back into double digits. They led 50-40 after three quarters.
Aliyah Dorsett opened the final quarter with a basket and Lehman was again within single digits, 50-42. A Lynda Fields free throw shortly thereafter got them within seven and a Behagen foul shot at 7:28 made the score 54-48, Dolphins. Lehman could never get it into a single possession as CSI won 80-56.
In the game, Lynda Fields scored a game-best 18 points. Behagen had 13 points on 6-12 shooting. Lisa Fields scored ten and Dorsett grabbed 10 rebounds. The team finished the 2017-18 season with 16-11 overall mark and an 11-5 conference ledger.
