Bronx, NY - The Lehman College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Old Westbury in their home opener in the Bronx on Wednesday. The game, played in intermittent snow, went to the Panthers, 8-2 and 15-2 in six innings.
In game one, the Lightning were led at the plate by Caitlin Vernon, who went 2-3 with a homer, an RBI and two runs scored. Samantha Torres drove in a run with a double. Game two was completed in six innings. Vernon raked a triple and an RBI, while Hailey Davila had an RBI single.
The Lehman College softball team returns to action on Sunday, March 18, when they host Maine Presque Isle for a doubleheader. Game one is slated for 10 AM.
