Bronx, N.Y. - The Lehman College softball team dropped a doubleheader to the College of Mount St. Vincent by scores of 8-0 and 7-4. The team is now 6-21 on the season.
Lehman was no-hit in the first game. Maranda Diaz and Diamond Villegas were the only baserunners. Villegas took the loss in the circle. She struck out five in five innings of work.
The Lighting took a 1-0 lead in game two with a run in the first. Diaz reached on a bunt single. She stole second and scored on a Caitlin Vernon single. The Dolphins went up 3-1 by scoring three times in the second. Lehman got one back in the third on a Villegas solo homer. Mount St. Vincent scored three more in the fourth and added another in the seventh. Lehman rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring twice. Diaz drove in the first run of the inning with a triple. Yaidee Nieves also had an RBI base hit later in the frame.
The Lehman College softball team returns to action on Saturday, April 14 when they face Brooklyn College in a doubleheader on the road . The first pitch is slated for noon.
