The Lightning posted a pair of shutouts defeating Brooklyn 9-0, 7-0 to improve to 8-21 overall and 4-4 in the CUNYAC.
After two scoreless innings the Lightning got on the board in the third. Lehman scored twice on a Bulldog error, a pair of singles by Maranda Diaz and Diamond Villegas and a wild pitch. In the fourth the Lightning added to their lead. Genesis Paulino started off the frame with a single and after a ground out was on third base. A Samantha Torres sacrifice fly to right field plated Paulino. In the fifth the Lightning scored two more runs on back to back to back singles by Diaz, Villegas and Caitling Vernon and a pair of wild pitches. Lehman added another run in the sixth and three more in the seventh for the win. Villegas earned the victory only surrendering one hit and striking out 18.
In game two, Villegas also went the distance to record her fourth win of the season. She did not allow a hit and struck out 16. The Lightning got on the board early scoring three runs in the first on home runs by Diaz and Vernon. In the fourth the Lightning were able to load the bases on a pair of hit by pitches and a walk. Diaz's rbi singles accounted for Lehman's only run of the inning. Lehman added three runs in the sixth. The big blow was a round tripper by Diaz that plated two. Later in the frame the Lightning scored on a wild pitch for the final margin of victory.
Lehman returns to action on Monday when they face St. Joseph's Brooklyn in a 5 PM double header on the South Field.
