Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman women's volleyball team split a doubleheader at The APEX Main Gym on Thursday evening after defeating CUNYAC rival York, 3-0, but dropped the second match, 3-2, to Albertus Magnus of Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
The Lightning (3-4, 1-2 CUNYAC) snapped a four match losing streak with three straight set (25-10, 25-7, 25-21) conference victory over York (0-5, 0-3 CUNYAC)in the opener. Junior OH/M –
Eriadna Vasquez led Lehman's offense with seven kills, seven digs and six aces. Junior setter –
Samantha Delgado dished out 11 assists, while junior DS –
Christina Lopez added three aces and four digs for the Lightning.
In the nightcap, Lehman squandered a two set lead (25-27, 22-25) but lost the last three (25-10, 25-13, 15-12) to Albertus Magnus (5-2). Vasquez recorded 18 kills and 11 digs to lead the Lightning, while Delgado had 27 assists and junior DS –
Ariana Pradieu recovered 21 digs in the loss.
Lehman will hit the road for tri-match at Danbury, Conn. on Saturday, when it meets Plymouth State and Western Connecticut State at 2 and 4 pm, respectively.
