Kings Point, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's soccer team lost its third consecutive match as it fell 6-1 to hosts U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) of Skyline Conference on Saturday at Brooks Stadium. The Lightning dropped to 2-4 record on the season, while the Mariners improve to 4-1.
USMMA jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first half, with sophomore midfielder Zack Lysakowski scoring twice, while junior forward David Germain and sophomore midfielder Joe Clark adding a tally each.
After freshman defender Abram Ehrhorn made it 5-0 thirteen minutes into the second half, senior forward Sahl Alzubidi got Lehman on the board in the 74
th minute with a penalty kick goal. However, Germain closed out the scoring for USMMA with his second tally of the match in 83
rd minute-mark.
The Mariners outshot the Lightning 26-10 (13-5 on goal). Junior goalkeeper
Chris Mulholland made four saves in 63
rd minutes of action for Lehman, while freshman netminder
Demiraldo Grunasi played last 27 minutes and had three stops.
Defending CUNYAC Champion Lehman returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 19
th) when it travels to Randall's Island to take on John Jay College, at 4 pm, in the first conference encounter for both teams.
