Purchase, NY – The Lehman College women's volleyball team snapped a five match skid defeating the Panthers of Purchase in five sets.
Lehman (4-9) dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-12 before rallying to take the third and fourth sets by scores 25-21 and 25-22. Lehman then went on win fifth and deciding set 15-13.
In the deciding set with the score knotted at 11 the Lightning ran off three consecutive points to take a 14-11 lead. However the Panthers scored the next two points to cut the advantage to 14-13. However the Lightning prevailed on a Panther attacking error to seal the victory.
Eriadna Vasquez led the Lightning with 10 kills while
Caitlin Vernon and Francheska Acevedo added eight apiece. Vernon also led the squad with five blocks.
Samantha Delgado recorded a team high 22 assists while Vasquez registered a team high 17 digs.
Lehman returns home on Wednesday night to face St. Joseph's College – LI. First serve is scheduled for 7 PM.
