Newark, N.J. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team, under the helm of Wolfgang Lucena, opened its 2019 season with consecutive losses to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and hosts Rutgers-Newark at The Golden Dome on Saturday.
 
The Lightning (0-2 record) began the day dropping three straight sets (25-5, 25-11, 25-11) to the Rutgers' Scarlet Raiders (1-1 mark).  Opp – Donnel Noel, Brandon Seda and OH – Will Eschenbach all had two kills each for Lehman, while setter Tairou Diaman dished out six assists. 
 
Lehman concluded the day losing a three set-match (25-10, 25-9, 25-6) to NJIT's Highlanders (2-4 ledger).  Eschenbach had three kills for the Lightning, while Diaman added four assists and two digs.
 
Lehman continues its road swing on Tuesday (January 22^nd) when it visits St. Joseph's College-LI in a non-conference match-up in Patchogue, N.Y. at 7 pm.
