Lightning Fall to Bloodhounds 65-63 in the Opening Round of the CUNYAC Tournament

New York, NY – The Lehman College men's basketball season came to an end this afternoon as the Lightning (9-17) were eliminated from the CUNYAC Tournament falling 65-63 to the Bloodhounds of John Jay (16-10). 
 
The Bloodhounds led for most of the first half.  Xavier Boyd gave Lehman their first lead of the afternoon after hitting a three pointer at the 8:10 mark.  However, John Jay enjoyed a five point advantage 29-24 at intermission.  The Bloodhounds pushed the lead to seven in the second half before Miguel Haboosh's jumper with 8:44 to play knotted the game at 49. The game was stilled tied with 2:59 to after an Andre Hampton jumper.  Trailing by one in the closing seconds the Lightning were forced to foul where Jordan Aikens made one of two with 10 seconds to play.  A Lightning jumper at the buzzer was off the mark and sent John Jay into the semi-finals where they will face CSI. 
 
Only five Lehman players scored in the loss.  The Lightning were led by Isaiah Geathers.  The sophomore scored 17 points.  Boyd added 16 while Hampton and Haboosh tallied 13 apiece.  Will Feldman rounded out the scoring with four points.  Geathers also led all players with 13 rebounds.
