Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against visiting Purchase winning the opener 6-2, before dropping the nightcap 9-1 at South Field on Wednesday. The Lightning go to 1-5 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 1-1.
Lehman earned its first victory of the campaign, in the opening match of twin-bill, and first against Purchase since March 10, 2012. Infielder Marina Delgaldo went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while centerfielder
Stephany Cruz also scored as she went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Diamond Villegas pitched a five-hit complete game allowing only one earned run, while striking out nine batters for the victory.
In the second game, the Lightning were limited to just two hits and one run scored as they lose for the six time in the last eight encounters against the Panthers.
Lehman is back in action on next Monday (Mar. 18
th) when it travels to take on College at Old Westbury in a non-conference twin-bill.
