Riverdale, NY – The Lehman College men's volleyball team fell to both the College of Mt. St. Vincent and Medgar Evers at the CMSV Tri-Match by the identical score of 3-0. The Lightning now stand at 3-15.
Against the hosts, Lehman fell by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 26-24.
Will Eschenbach led the Lightning attack with six kills and a team high 22 digs. In the opening set the Dolphins jumped out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. In the second set with the Lightning trailing 9-8, the CMSV ran off five straight points to take control of the set. The Lightning started the third set with a 5-0 run but could hold on eventually falling 26-24.
In a non-league match with Medgar Evers the Cougars prevailed 25-12, 25-16 and 25-20. Eschenbach once again led the way with five kills and 12 digs. In the first set, the Cougars jumped out to a 6-2 lead and similarly in the second led 8-4 early on before cruising to victory in the first two sets. The third set, the most competitive of the match, the Lightning owned a 19-16 advantage before the Cougars ran off eight straight points en route to victory.
With the pair of losses the Lightning have now dropped eight straight.
Lehman looks to right the ship on Thursday night as they return home to the APEX to face CUNYAC rival York at 7 PM.
