Bronx, N.Y. – Eight game losing streak came to an end on Sunday for the Lehman College baseball team as it swept a non-conference doubleheader against visiting SUNY Polytechnic Institute at South Field. The Lightning improve to 4-11 overall ledger, while the Wildcasts drop to 3-12 mark.
Lehman took the opener, 6-1, infielder
Mark Vargas led the offense going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI, while catcher
Anthony Riley also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Jarret Oehler pitched a four-hit complete game while striking out 11 batters for his third victory of the season.
The Lightning completed the twin-bill sweep with a 12-6 triumph in the nightcap. Outfielder
Namir Garcia paced Lehman going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI, while teammate
Henry Gonzalez also went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Outfielder
Geraldo Rodriguez added two RBI going 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while
Rich Frommelt pitched five strong innings and struck out six batters for his first win of the campaign.
The Lightning continue its home stand on Wednesday when they hosts Purchase College in a non-conference encounter at 4 pm.
