Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team swept a non-conference twin-bill against visiting Yeshiva University at South Field on Tuesday evening. The Lightning improve to a 3-9 overall record, while the Maccabees drop to 0-10 mark this season.
Lehman won the opener 12-0 in five innings as infielder
Tiffany Adames drove in two runs and scored a pair going 2-for-2 from the plate, while teammate Anjolie Alxander also had two RBI as she went 3-for-3.
Diamond Villegas pitched a three-hit shutout while striking out 11 batters for the victory.
In the nightcap, the Lightning trailed early but then scored in each inning to pull away for a 19-6 romp against Yeshiva. Adames once again went 2-for-2 with a homer, two runs scored and five RBI. She also picked up the win on the mound. Alexander added three RBI as she went 3-for-4 for Lehman, while infielder
Caitlin Vernon also drove in three runs, while scoring twice as she went 2-for-3.
The Lightning return to action on Friday as they travel to take on New Jersey City University in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
