Baseball Conclude Season With Twin-Bill Split Against CCNY

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team wrapped up its 2019 season with twin-bill split at home against conference opponent CCNY at South Field on Monday.  The Lightning end the campaign with a 11-23 record and 5-7 in CUNYAC, while the Beavers fall to 13-19 and 6-6 in conference play.

Lehman took the opener 13-8, thanks to infielder Jeremmy Santos who went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI.  Outfielder Namir Garcia also drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 and catcher Anthony Riley had two RBI as he went 1-for-4.  Rich Frommelt pitched a complete game and struckout five batters for the victory.

In the nightcap, the CCNY posted a come-from-behind 11-10 victory.  The Lightning squandered a 9-6 lead in the top of seventh inning as the Beavers scored five runs to take an 11-9 advantage.  Lehman got a run back to make it one-run game and left the base loaded, however CCNY held on for the win.  Santos led the Lightning offense once again going 2-for-4 with four RBI, while infielder Henry Gonzales went 2-for-2 from the plate with a home run.

The doubleheader also bid farewell to seniors Namir Garcia, Geraldo Rodriguez and Mark Vargas whom all played their final games wearing the Lehman uniforms.
