Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Post 2-0 Win Over CCNY

Bronx, N.Y. – For a second consecutive time this season, the Lehman College women's soccer team came out on the winning end after posting a 2:0 shut out over visiting CCNY in a CUNYAC encounter on Wednesday evening at South Field.  The Lightning improve to 2-6 overall record and 2-0 in CUNYAC, while the Beavers drop to 3-5 mark and 0-1 in conference play.
 
Lehman got on the score sheet first in 28th minute-mark when midfielder Melanie Huerta notched her first collegiate goal off a pass from defender Micaela Canapa.
 
In the second half, the Lightning made it 2-0 when Canapa scored off her second consecutive shot after her first attempt was saved by goalkeeper Catherine Langkamp.
 
CCNY cut the Lehman lead in half with five minutes remaining when midfielder Ingrid Rosario scored off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box.  However, the Lightning held on for the victory.
 
Lehman goalkeeper Rebecca Gritz made six saves for her second consecutive win.
 
The Lightning continue CUNYAC action next Monday when they welcome the Cougars of Medgar Evers College at 6 pm.
