Bronx, NY – The Lehman College men's basketball team defeated Baruch 60-58 in a key conference game contested in the APEX.
With the win the Lightning improve to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference. While the Bearcats fall to 9-6:5-2. The win snaps a two game Lightning skid.
Will Feldman came off the bench to lead Lehman with a season high 15 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Isaiah Geathers also netted 15 points while
Gian Batista led the squad in rebounds with 13.
It was a game of runs as the Bearcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead. During the middle of the first half the Lightning went on an 11-0 run and owned an 11 point lead at one time before settling on a 26-20 advantage at intermission. Just like the first half the Bearcats come out of the locker room on fire scoring the first 11 points of the second period. Lehman battled back and finally took the lead 39-37 at the 8:59 mark on a Feldman three-pointer, his only one of the night. With the game tied at 49, and 3:10 remaining, Geathers drained a pair of foul shots to give Lehman a lead they would not surrender. The two from the charity tripe started the Lightning on an 8-0 run which was capped by a Geathers three. Pressure defense by the Bearcats enabled them to battle back giving them a chance to send the game to overtime or even win it with a three pointer but a layup at the buzzer could not find the bottom of the net and the Lightning held on for a two point win.
Lehman returns to action on Wednesday to face CCNY in upper Manhattan. Game time is slated for 7 PM.
